Joel performs internationally as both a soloist and chamber musician and at the most important venues in the UK such as the Wigmore Hall, Wales Millennium Centre, CBSO Centre Birmingham and Cadogan Hall. Recent performances include the Haydn C major concerto with the Budweis Philharmonic Orchestra in Switzerland and the Saint-Saëns and Shostakovich concertos with orchestras in the UK and Belgium. Upcoming concerts include a solo Wigmore Hall Recital as part of the Razumovsky Academy Recital Series, performances of Elgar and Saint-Saens concertos with Woking Symphony Orchestra and Collegium Musicum de Mulhouse in France. Joel is also passionate about contemporary music and in 2010 premiered Lowell Liebermann’s 4th cello sonata at Wigmore Hall to critical acclaim which was profiled on Classic FM, gave the UK premiere of Kamran Ince’s Arches, the premiere of Sir Nicholas Jackson’s Piano Trio, and recently performed Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians in the presence of the composer.
Joel is the recipient of the prestigious Razumovsky Trust Ida Haendel Award (2011), following his performance for the legendary violinist. He has also received an award from the Hattori Foundation, became one of the youngest prizewinners at the 2010 Haverhill Sinfonia International Soloist Competition and won multiple prizes at the Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra Young Soloist Competition in 2011.
